Prof. Dr. Med. Fred Fändrich

Professor Fändrich is the head of the Clinic for Applied Cell Therapy at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein and has specialized in research and teaching on the development of new, individualized forms of therapy for the future. He focuses on three major medical applications:


i. Immunotherapy of autoimmune diseases

ii. the use of autologous cell products to regenerate degenerated tissues and vessels

iii. the immunotherapy of malignancies.


Professor Fändrich began his career in 1986 as a general surgeon at Worms General Hospital in Germany. Over the next two decades, he was honored with numerous awards as a transplant surgeon, including


- Walter Brendel Prize (1993), German Society for Surgery

- von Langenbeck Prize (1997), German Society for Surgery

- Fritz Linder Prize (1999), German Society for Surgery

- Rudolf Pichlmayr Prize (2001), German Society for Surgery

- One of the Five Opinion Leaders of the World Transplant Society (Oxford) (2006)


In 2004 he was appointed Director of the Department of Transplantation Medicine and Biotechnology at the UKSH, and in 2005 Deputy Director of the Clinic for General and Thoracic Surgery at the UKSH. During his work as a transplant surgeon, Professor Fändrich turned to regenerative medicine. In 2002 he received the Georg Heberer Prize for his article published in the renowned journal Nature Medicine (Chiles Foundation, Oregon, USA). In 2009 he founded the Department of Applied Cellular Medicine at the CAU | UKSH.

Maryam Aygün

Maryam Aygün has gained impressive professional experience in various companies and positions. She has been Managing Director at SMB Swift Med Berlin GmbH since 2020. Previously, she was also Managing Director at hanseMED for Medical Supply GmbH from 2019 to 2020 and took over business development and sales management.


From 2013 to 2019 she worked at Medical Park AG as a consultant to the board of directors and in this position was responsible for business development, project management and strategic realignment in various sectors. From 2010 to 2013 she worked for the Vamed Group in Berlin, where she worked as a project manager in the business development department and was responsible for project coordination.


Earlier stations in her career include HanseMed GmbH, where she acted as office manager from 2010 to 2012 and took care of process and organizational optimization as well as leading a large team in their daily operations.


Maryam expanded her academic background with a Master of Arts in Business Administration from the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. From 2007 to 2009 she completed her degree with a focus on management and consulting.


In her master's thesis, she dealt with the development of work-life balance measures to prevent burnout among managers. Through the creation of this work, she gained an in-depth understanding of the challenges executives face and developed solutions to promote their well-being.
